#1: Hold him all day long
I changed my work schedule around a bit this week, so my mom drove down from Baltimore to watch Patrick on Monday. I called around 1:00 to check on them and found that Patrick had taken a 4-hour nap on her chest. Only a grandmother would sit absolutely still for FOUR HOURS! When I got home from work, I asked my mom if she put Patrick down at all during the day. Her response? "Yes, twice. Once to eat some lunch, and once to use the bathroom." Patrick thoroughly enjoyed his day of pampering.
#2: The Piano Bjorn
On one of Patrick's fussier nights, Andy discovered that Baby Bjorn + Patrick+Piano = Happy Baby.
In other news, Patrick has been able to shed two specialists from his medical entourage. His hernia repair surgery went well, so at the follow-up appointment, his surgeon said that we didn't need to see her anymore. Hooray! One down! Next, Patrick had a follow-up with a pediatric cardiologist to take a look at his heart. While he was in the NICU, the doctors found that he had two little holes in his heart. In preemies, this is extremely common - the holes are caused by the failure of the PDA and PFO to close. Typically, these close on their own in time - and in Patrick's case, this is exactly what happened. The cardiologist assured me that his team tried their very hardest to find something wrong with his heart, but couldn't. The PDA and PFO had closed, and we no longer have a pediatric cardiologist on our roster.
