Patrick returns to second grade

This morning, Patrick and I made our annual visit to Aunt Katie's second grade class. When I walked into her school, I was struck by just how much Patrick has changed since our last visit -- and especially since our first.

2010: Three-month-old Patrick greets his second grade fans. I can hardly remember him being that tiny! But, I do remember it being extremely stressful to take him on this outing.

2011: Fifteen-month-old Patrick holds his audience captive from the safety of Aunt Katie's lap. This was about two months before he started walking.

2012: Two-year old Patrick is ready to turn Aunt Katie's second grade class upside down.

Patrick was excited to see Katie and take her a present. He carried it in from the parking lot himself:

It was a good thing we got there early, as Patrick had some work to do before the kids came back from Specials.

Next, he helped Aunt Katie brush up on her world geography.

When Aunt Katie went to get the kids, Patrick caught up his emails.

Patrick sat on Aunt Katie's lap and answered some questions.

Here he is working the crowd, giving high-fives to his admirers.

Patrick continued the high-fiving and fist-bumping for about five minutes. This was followed by several minutes of the kids asking if Patrick could sit on their laps. (He obliged a few lucky ones.)

Not wanting to outstay his welcome, Patrick said goodbye to his adoring fans and made a dash for the parking lot.

See you next year, second graders!
