From Happy Legs to Happy Feet

Dear Patrick,

You continue to do quite well in your crummy little environment.  Each day brings something new and had an additive effect to the whole experience here.  Your doctors seem to grow in number each day.  Currently your tally is a primary care neonatologist, a radiologist,  a pulmonologist , a physical therapist, a urologist, a orthopedist, an occupational therapist (although I still don't know what they do), a resident, a neonatal fellow, infectious (for the MRSA outbreak) and countless nurses.  When we come to visit you it only takes a few minutes for one of the cast of characters mentioned above to come to the bedside and try to give a rundown of the previous 10/20/30 hours since they last talked to us.  As parents it's nearly impossible to keep track of the latest and greatest test results.  We do try our very best to remember what is going on and all the medical details coupled with the watered down version that generally comes out later.

Your casts look pretty awesome, and although you seemed to find them somewhat irksome at first, you have since discovered you can use them to beat those that bother you with your power legs.  They tell us the casts will be changed every five days for some weeks here to help your lucky foot turn out.

Power Legs are on!

Today had a couple of other surprises in store for you as some of the visiting hours restrictions were lifted and we brought in some family members.  So far Grandad Linn and Aunt Katie have come to see you.  Both cried at your bedside, but don't tell Granddad that I told you.  (He says boys don't cry)

I know that there are more to follow in the coming days, and they are all excited to get their grubby little hands on you!

I hope you are sleeping well and resting comfortably as I left you wrapped up like a burrito.

Love,
Dad
